Digital Platformer Launches Proof of Concept for RWA (Real World Asset) Trading Platform Utilizing XRPL

Digital Platformer Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kazutaka Matsuda; hereinafter “the Company”) hereby announces the launch of a proof of concept (PoC) for its RWA (Real World Asset) trading platform. This platform enables the management and transaction of physical real-world assets on the blockchain.

As the first use case of this verification, the project will implement an initiative to issue digital certificates corresponding to green power and record their transaction history securely on the blockchain.

Overview of the Proof of Concept

This platform is a framework designed to manage information and rights associated with assets existing in the real world on the blockchain, enabling seamless integration with global trading networks and on-chain finance. The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has been adopted as the underlying infrastructure layer due to its exceptional speed, reliability, and scalability. By constructing specialized issuance and distribution functionalities for tokens tied to individual RWAs, the Company aims to realize a versatile platform capable of supporting the digital circulation of diverse asset classes.

In this specific proof of concept, the platform utilizes the “Multi-Purpose Token (MPT)” functionality native to XRPL. The MPT is a token standard that allows for the management of multiple quantities under a single unique token ID. Within this project, the platform issues digital certificates representing green power and expresses the corresponding power volume as MPT balances, thereby enabling significantly more granular control over issuance and distribution compared to traditional systems.

Furthermore, by embedding detailed attributes—such as the exact time of power generation, the generation type (source), and the geographical region—as metadata directly on-chain, the platform enhances the transparency and traceability of power origin data.

Issuance and Distribution of Digital Certificates Corresponding to Green Power

Mechanisms to certify the environmental value of electricity derived from renewable energy sources are already widely utilized both in Japan and internationally. However, traditional certificates are frequently managed in aggregate totals on a monthly or annual basis. This structure creates a potential divergence between the actual timing of electricity consumption and its environmental certification, which has raised concerns regarding “greenwashing”—where environmental friendliness is overstated relative to reality.

In response to these market challenges, global initiatives emphasizing real-time power certification, such as “EnergyTag,” have been gaining significant momentum in recent years.

The Company, in collaboration with i-Grid Solutions, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo), which deploys solar power generation equipment nationwide, will launch a proof of concept to segment solar power generation into 30-minute intervals and record these generation amounts on the blockchain as time-bound digital certificates.

By shortening the unit of certificate issuance and implementing explicit expiration periods, this initiative aims to achieve a mechanism that links power generation and consumption with much higher precision. Through this approach, the Company will promote the distribution of environmental value aligned with actual electricity usage, while validating a new operational model that offers greater alignment with real demand compared to conventional certificates.

Additionally, the infrastructure for issuing, managing, and distributing digital certificates in this PoC has been built upon the foundation of technical expertise and operational know-how that the Company has accumulated across the fields of digital ID, digital currency, and blockchain technology. To enhance the effectiveness and scientific rigor of the project, the Future Optical Network Open Research Center at Keio University has been welcomed as an advisor, providing specialized academic and practical expertise in the field of electric power.

Future Outlook

Through this proof of concept, the Company will validate the efficacy of utilizing RWA frameworks within the green power sector. Looking ahead, the Company envisions expanding this platform into a wide array of asset domains, including carbon credits, environmental values, digital securities, and local/regional assets.

By continuing to build highly reliable and transparent digital transaction infrastructures utilizing blockchain technology, the Company remains dedicated to realizing entirely new models of value circulation within actual society.
