Digital Platformer Joins Hitachi-led AML Efficiency and Accuracy Enhancement Pilot Program
Enhancing Secure and Transparent Digital Asset Transactions
February 17, 2025
Tokyo, Japan – February 17, 2025 – Digital Platformer Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Ikkei Matsuda, hereafter “Digital Platformer”) today announced its participation in an anti-money laundering (AML) pilot program led by Hitachi, Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Keiji Kojima, hereafter “Hitachi”). This initiative aims to strengthen AML measures in digital asset transactions, including cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and NFTs, by improving monitoring efficiency and accuracy. The pilot will be conducted from February to April 2025, with the goal of advancing risk management across the digital asset ecosystem.
background
As the digital asset market rapidly expands, the risks associated with money laundering and illicit activities have also increased. To address these challenges, global AML regulations are tightening. However, compliance efforts are often disjointed, with crypto exchanges, Web3 businesses, and financial institutions managing AML independently. This fragmented approach results in high compliance costs and a shortage of specialized AML personnel, making it difficult to effectively prevent financial crimes in the digital asset space.
To tackle these issues, Hitachi and its partners are collaborating to centralize and streamline AML efforts across the industry. This pilot program will explore how a shared, unified AML infrastructure can enhance both efficiency and compliance.
Pilot Program Overview
The pilot, conducted from February to April 2025, will evaluate AML transaction monitoring capabilities by pooling system resources, expertise, and data across multiple institutions.
Key Initiatives:
Centralized AML Data Sharing:
•Traditionally, each entity collects, stores, and analyzes AML-related data independently.
•Under this pilot, participants will share their AML data through Hitachi’s dedicated platform, enabling cross-institutional analysis.
Enhanced Risk Detection & Feedback Mechanism:
•The shared platform will analyze transactional risks and provide real-time feedback to participating institutions.
•The goal is to improve risk detection accuracy and reduce compliance costs.
Automation of AML Monitoring Processes:
•Leveraging open transaction data, the platform will explore automated transaction monitoring to enhance efficiency and reduce manual compliance efforts.
Digital Platformer’s Role
As part of this pilot, Digital Platformer will test the platform’s functionalities and assess its effectiveness in AML operations.
Looking ahead, the company will leverage decentralized identity (DID) technology to support key AML challenges, including:
- Enhanced KYC (Know Your Customer) Compliance:
Utilizing DID technology to streamline identity verification, improving both efficiency and transparency in digital asset transactions. - Real-Time Transaction Monitoring:
Implementing DID-based tracking mechanisms for continuous risk assessment within AML frameworks. - Privacy Protection & Security Enhancement:
ntegrating Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology to balance data privacy and regulatory compliance while maintaining high-accuracy risk analysis.
Significance of This Collaboration
Through its participation in this initiative, Digital Platformer aims to contribute to:
- Strengthening AML compliance frameworks in Japan
- Establishing a secure and transparent digital asset market
- Enhancing trust and reliability within the Web3 ecosystem
Executive Statement
Ikkei Matsuda, CEO of Digital Platformer Inc., commented:
“AML compliance is a fundamental pillar of digital asset market growth. Through this pilot, we aim to leverage our DID and MPC technologies to improve AML effectiveness, enhance compliance accuracy, and support the creation of a secure and efficient transaction environment.”
