FAQ

The application will display the message "Already locked".

The card is locked due to a mistake in the PIN number of the My Number Card for the specified number of times (5 times in a row).
For security reasons, the application cannot be unlocked. Please use one of the following methods to reset (initialize) your PIN.

  • 1. Initialize and reset at a convenience store.

If you remember your 4-digit PIN (digital certificate for user authentication), you can reset it at the convenience store by following the procedure described in the link below.
    https://www.j-lis.go.jp/jpki/idreset/idreset_index.html

  • 2. Initialize and reconfigure at the municipal office.

If you have also forgotten your 4-digit PIN, please go to your local municipal office.

The application displays "Communication with the card has been disconnected.

Communication between your smartphone and your My Number Card may not be working properly. Please try the following three steps in order.

  • Step 1:Preparation of communication environment and terminals

    Switching communications
Please turn off Wi-Fi once and try switching to carrier communication (4G/5G).
    Reboot terminal
Restart your smartphone and launch the SHIKI application with all other applications closed.
    Remove the cover
Please read the data with the phone cover (especially metal or thick ones, or those containing cards) removed.
  • Step 2:Confirmation of reading position

Place the card so that the center of the card is at the top of the smartphone (next to the camera).
The position of the card depends on the model.
For your reference, please also refer to the following page "IC card set position of smart phones".
    https://www.jpki.go.jp/prepare/reader_writer/android.html

  • Step 3:Scan your My Number Card

Never move or release the card until "Read Complete" is displayed.
It may take a few seconds to a dozen seconds.
Placing the card on the desk and securing the phone on top of it will make it easier to succeed.

If the above does not solve the problem, please try to see if the card itself can be read by the JPKI user software to confirm the possibility of a problem with the card (e.g., IC chip failure).
JPKI User Software can be downloaded from the following URL.
https://www.jpki.go.jp/download/

The application will display "PIN code is not set, PIN code must be set to use SHIKI app. is displayed on the application.

A PIN code is a passcode that is set on your smartphone.
If not, please refer to the following URL and try the setting.

It seems that only uppercase alphabets can be entered on the My Number Card PIN entry screen.

Please note that only uppercase letters can be used as the PIN for the digital certificate for signature that you enter on this screen.

Please reconfirm your registered PIN and operate the machine.

On the application, "The digital certificate stored in your My Number Card may have expired." will be displayed.

My number card has two types of expiration dates: "digital certificate for signature" and "digital certificate for user certification".
Please use the "JPKI User Software" and check if the "Digital Certificate for Signature" has not expired.

JPKI User Software can be downloaded from the following URL.

If the expiration date has expired, please check the URL below for the renewal procedure for the expiration date and follow the procedure.

The app displays the following message: "Failed to link My Number information. If you are using SHIKI on another device, please try again on that device."

This error message appears when you try to use the service on a different device or with a different My Number Card. Specifically, if you have already completed registration for SHIKI on another smartphone or with another My Number Card, and then attempt to continue the process on your current device, this message will appear due to a data inconsistency (for security reasons).

If you already have a registered device, please uninstall the SHIKI app first, and then use the app again on the device you plan to use as your primary device.

If you used a different card, please verify that the combination of the My Number Card originally registered and the device you are currently using matches.

The app displays the message: "Failed to link My Number information. Please check your network connection and try again."

This error message occurs when an old session is reused or when there is a problem with the network connection. Reusing an old session occurs when you switch browser tabs during the authentication process or click a button again after closing the window (resulting in a session timeout).

If the issue is caused by the reuse of an old session, please continue while keeping the browser window (tab) open where you started the SHIKI login process. If the process gets stuck, close all other browser tabs and start over from the beginning.

If the issue is caused by a network connection problem, please move to a location with better signal strength, or switch your connection from Wi-Fi to your carrier's network (4G/5G), wait a few moments, and then try again.

(Depending on your screen, you may see the message: “Failed to retrieve terms of service information. Please check your network connection and try again.” In that case as well, this is due to a network connection issue, so please follow the same steps.)

The app displays the message "Unable to start identity verification."

This error message tends to occur when you are using an "in-app browser" (a browser that opens within apps such as LINE or email apps) or when your browser's security settings restrict the information (cookies) required for authentication.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but please try the following steps again.

  • Actions We'd Like You to Try

・Please close all open browser tabs.

・Please launch your default browser app (such as Safari or Chrome) directly.

・Please access the websites you wish to link—such as “Noto Pit” or “Ishikawa Portal”—directly from the browser you’ve launched, and repeat the linking process.
